Every Rebels best friend, the handy molotov cocktail. |
FN2000 with 40mm grenade attachment, this weapon was captured by rebels. |
Any fan of CoD or any other "modern" shooter will recognize the space gun to our left *ahem*. It is the Belgium made FN2000, and yes, it costs as much as it looks like. No army in the area uses these rifles, and Qaddafi's wasn't know to have them. They have never been adopted or purchased on a large scale.
Libyan Arm-chair commando |
Many Libyans can be seen using the much older and more widely adopted FAL, this weapon has been a staple of this conflict and many others in the past. It is know for it's hard hitting power and reliability. It's nice to see the rebels haven't lost all comforts in there efforts to fight Qaddfi. His buddy appears to have your standard AK, which can be found all across the world. How the rebels ended up with so many nice shiny FAL's that make me jealous? Who knows, maybe a gift from nato, the guys that almost all used them in the past or currently.
This Rebellion Should show people the world over that with the right tools and a little ingenuity, the underdog can have a fighting chance. It is also a great study in what happens when people are disarmed by there government, one of the first moves of any tyrant since the invention firearms. I leave you with this image, one of a man who looks much happier having the re-tooled helicopter rocket pod behind him on his side.
I will admit, it is not very practical for hunting needs
Libyan Bob Marley? |
Hehehe, any guess-work on how much it would cost USD for an FN2000, assuming they make a civilian model?
ReplyDeleteWithout any accessories they start around $2000 USD, not exactly "standard issue" material
ReplyDeleteAhh the molotov cocktail, so simple, so effective.
ReplyDeleteWheres the crowbar from Half-life? followed
ReplyDelete@Charles
ReplyDeleteAgreed. A Riot isn't a riot if no molotovs.
:)
Great post!
Molotovs <3
ReplyDeleteHaha definitely following after this post.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to see what things in libaya are like.
I mean, personally, I still would pick "almost readily available" (the molotov) rather than pick up a gun, but hell, I wouldn't last a minute in a shoot out, but a riot I would stand some chance.
Nice post.
xD Aww.. I don't think my post was posted... ,but I'm definitely going to starting following simply because of this post.
ReplyDeleteThings in other countries, or "smaller countries" is always something worth of interest to me, but the thing that automatically caught my eye were those molotovs.
I mean, they are probably the best item to use in a riot or to clear out a room, but to go to a shoot out, is rather far from intelligent, haha..
Nice post.
libyan bob marley haha, informative post sir :)
ReplyDeleteI bet you could ruin someone's entire day with one of those molotov cocktails.
ReplyDelete$2000 USD damn... ill just molotov thanks!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed that the libyan rebels make some genuine progress now!
ReplyDeleteI would like a molotov cocktail please!
ReplyDeleteImprovised weapons are really cool. There's just something about slapping a bunch of stuff together and maguyvering a gun or bomb out of it that's interesting.
ReplyDeleteSeen the FN2000 in CoD, it's a beauty!
ReplyDeleteah how I love the art of warfare.. Killing is terrible though :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder how they got all them shiny FALs too? well hope the rebels can keep fighting against the government because they have a chance.
ReplyDelete-Libyan Bob Marley? lol
Really cool blog!
ReplyDeleteMolotov's is all you need in a war haha, fire > all
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I guess it's true, necessity is the mother of invention!
ReplyDeleteThose thicker soda bottles for the MC's are sometimes hard to break... even after a long throw. But hey, ya use watchya got.
ReplyDeleteThere's quite a mix of expensive and inexpensive weapons. Pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteAt least they're not like the Egyptians-using salad bar items as armor(guy with bread sticks as a helmet and another with salad tongs)
ReplyDeleteI feel for the Libyans, I only hope that the war does not last long, and that the rebels get the freedom they so justly deserve!
